El Salvador has 29 consulates in the United States, spread across 21 states. All of them handle passports, powers of attorney and civil records; DUIs are issued at 21 of them. Appointments are free at portalcitas.rree.gob.sv or by calling (888) 301-1130. Nobody can charge you for an appointment.

- DUI Cost at a consulate: $35. Online renewal or replacement: $55, home delivery included
- Passport Cost: $60 (adults and minors). Validity: 6 years
- Birth certificate Cost: $5 to $35 depending on the route. Processing time: About 24 business hours online
- Child registration Registration fee: Free ($5 fine after 6 months). Certified copy: $10 each
- Power of attorney Cost: $40 per power of attorney. Authentication: $5 at the Foreign Ministry
- Apostille Salvadoran apostille: Free. RNPN authentication (partidas): $20, since June 25, 2026
- Criminal record Criminal record: $3 on Simple SV. Police clearance (PNC): $3.50 on Simple SV
- Minor ID card Issued by: City hall (alcaldía) in El Salvador. Ages: Over 10 and under 18
- Travel record Cost: $10 ($11 for non-Salvadorans). ID at the consulate: Original, valid passport
- Proof of life Consulate certificate: $10. Authentication: $5, if your institution requires it

Each consulate has assigned states, but in practice you can book at the one that suits you best. Check the consulates by state table and confirm on the consulate page that it handles your procedure.
Is this an official website?
No. We are an independent guide that summarizes and verifies official information. We do not book appointments or issue documents. Procedures are only done at the consulates and on the Government of El Salvador's portals.
What should I do if someone charges me to get an appointment?
Do not pay. Consular appointments are free and can only be booked on the official portal or through the call center. If someone asks for money for an appointment, it is a scam.
